The HOPE program is a Gifted & Talented initiative for grades 3 through 7 in Jersey City Public Schools. It uses the same curriculum as all other district classes; however, the program is designed to have a faster pace and more project based.
Near the end of the third marking period in mid-April, teachers score their students in various categories, and the resulting rankings determine which students are eligible for the HOPE program. The ideal candidate for the program has high grades, good study skills, consistent homework completion, and a good attendance record. All students will be considered, including special education and ESL students. Additionally, there are opportunities for HOPE bilingual classes.
