Explore Middle School implements an integrated, interdisciplinary curriculum, with the goal of improving student engagement and enthusiasm and creating opportunities for applied learning.

  • Technological learning: Explore 2000 is described as New Jersey’s first S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) vocational middle school.
  • Project Lead The Way curriculum: The school offers the Project Lead The Way curriculum. This curriculum is known for its focus on hands-on and projects that require collaboration amongst students.

What do parents like about this school?

Explore Middle School is a safe environment where students are encouraged to develop intellectually, as well as creatively.  The school focuses on project-based interdisciplinary learning that breaks down traditional barriers between subject areas.

Explore 2000 is closely connected to High Tech High School. Teachers support eighth graders through the High Tech application process, and many students apply because Explore 2000’s curriculum emphasizes technology—aligning well with High Tech’s focus. This is helpful for parents because many students will want to go High Tech and will receive guidance through their application process to High Tech.
