What’s for lunch at Jersey City Public Schools…and how do I pay for it?

Parents working with the Jersey City Board of Education (JCBOE), have been advocating for a new food services contract between school years with the goal of improving the quality of the food served in schools.  Lunch menus are available here. School lunch menus are also usually sent home with students each month.

Along with a new provider, there will also be a new payment system, called My School Bucks, which will replace last year’s PayForIt payment system.  But don’t worry, if you have a balance remaining from last year, just create an account at My School Bucks, add your children to your account, and your existing account balances will appear automatically!  We just signed up, and it’s pretty straightforward.

Aside from lunch, all students are offered breakfast every morning at no cost.  Students signed up for the Casper after school program and extended day programs are provided with snacks at no cost as well.

Many students are eligible for free or reduced cost lunch.  For the 2018-2019 school year full price lunch is $2.90. Check the JCBOE Food Services Department page for more information about the discounted lunch form/application.
